Our Story

Clear to Work was started by Brendan Power and like all good stories, his started in a pub. No, really, Brendan was born in a pub, and since day one has been immersed in the world of hospitality. Son of the great Queensland entrepreneur and businessman Bernie Power who, among many successful businesses, founded Power’s Brewing during the Australian beer wars of the late 1980s. If you didn’t know the beer wars were a ‘thing’ back in the 1980s, a) have you ever heard of anything more Aussie? and b) you’re welcome for the history lesson. 

Brendan went on to own and operate a number of establishments both in Australia and overseas. Brendan was also a part of the Brisbane Broncos Leagues Club Board from 2016 to 2024, including becoming Chair in 2020. To say that Brendan has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry is an understatement.   

When the idea came from a business partner to expand into the hospitality training space, Brendan was a natural choice and has since grown Clear to Work into the dynamic, leading-edge business it is today.   

Clear to Work began in 2011 and has grown into one of the largest online providers of nationally accredited hospitality training in the country. Proud to be Australian owned and operated, Clear to Work was the pioneer in online training for hospitality. We continue to be pioneers by building new and better ways of delivering outstanding products and services both to the corporate space and to the public.   

Brendan has curated an executive team with a rich history in both the VET Sector and online training industry to drive Clear to Work’s mission and vision forward. Our goal is to make the barrier of entry into industry as low as possible by providing low cost, accessible training and certifications. We aim to do the same for all sectors for which we develop products and services. 

Clear to Work has also pioneered online training in the corporate space by creating platforms that provide ease of procurement and management of the products and services we provide.   

In 2025, we took our expertise in delivering excellent online training products and services and expanded into the area of child protection, delivering both accredited and non-accredited training to all sectors that engage with children and young people.
